blackmanonthemoon:

Heard nigger is said a lot in Django, which I don’t find nearly as bothersome as other people do. While I understand that hearing nigger out of white people’s mouths is hard to hear in any way shape or form the film is supposed to take place in 1858. White people did act in that manner towards blacks.

I would rather be bothered by a realistic scenario than have it sugar coated, it is important tat people see that

Compared to the violence typical of Tarantino (a dude gets eaten by dogs), a racist word is small potatoes

Alan Rickman for President

The upcoming movie The Butler (2013) is going to have Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan, John Cusack as Richard Nixon, Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower, James Marsden as JFK oh and Oprah and Mariah Carey are going to be in it. This sounds like one hell of a movie already.

Inception and Greek Mythology

In the movie Inception, Ellen Page’s character (Ariadne) is responsible for being the dream architect. In Greek mythology, Ariadne is the daughter of King Minos. The King had another child, a minotaur, whom he kept in a labyrinth. Minos demanded tribute from the countries he conquered; they would have to provide fourteen people to enter the labyrinth and be eaten by the minotaur.
Theseus, a young hero, heard of this and volunteered to be one of the fourteen sacrifices so that he could slay the minotaur. Ariadne, having fallen in love with him, showed him a way to escape the labyrinth after Theseus killed the minotaur.
If you remember, Leonardo DiCaprio’s character (Dom) tests Page’s character by having her design a difficult labyrinth.

Uhm why has no one made a Gary Oldman appreciate post?

He’s one of those brilliant chameleon actors whose celebrity doesn’t overshadow the character. Maybe I’m a little slow to make connections, but I didn’t know he was a Brit or that he was Sirius Black or Ruber from Quest for Camelot. And y’know what? I love that I didn’t know. All I saw was a Commissioner Gordon who looked like a real-life comic book character. He was beyond wonderful in the Dark Knight trilogy, he brought a character that (to outsiders of the comic book world like me) was formerly unremarkable to life.

I have so many Jim Gordon feels (notice how he still wears his ring through The Dark Knight Rises despite the fact that his wife left him), I can’t contain it.

The interviews in the beginning and the end were improvised by Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg, while in-character. They were done late night with only Bale, Wahlberg and director David O. Russell present. Bale actually became emotional and left the couch.
